Installer technical FAQ

Does darker window tint always make my car cooler inside?

Installer education covering film construction, solar-performance measures, limitations, care and customer questions.

Although many people assume darker window tint always makes a car cooler, in reality, visible darkness does not directly determine heat management. The feeling of comfort inside a vehicle is influenced by how MOD5 TopShield window tint films are constructed to manage various aspects of the sun's energy, not just how much light they block. Different films can appear similar in darkness yet provide very different cabin experiences. What truly matters is how effectively the film operates to maintain a comfortable environment over time, which involves more than just reduced visible light. The focus should be on the film’s engineered qualities to feel cooler, rather than its outward appearance.
