Installer technical FAQ
Does headlight protection stop my headlights from going yellow?
Installer support covering lens-film protection, limitations, preparation, maintenance and customer education.
Many car owners believe that headlight protection exclusively prevents yellowing caused by UV exposure. This belief is incorrect because yellowing is only one aspect of headlight degradation, and the most common cause of diminished headlight transparency is actually physical damage. While MOD5 TopShield headlight protection film does incorporate elements that resist UV, its primary engineered function is absorbing impacts from road debris. These small impacts otherwise create micro-fractures in the headlight lens material, leading to hazing and clouding over time, which significantly reduces light output and is often mistaken for or exacerbated by yellowing. Understanding this distinction helps car owners to evaluate the true comprehensive protection required for their vehicle’s headlights.
