Installer technical FAQ
Do lighter window tints offer poor UV protection?
Installer education covering film construction, solar-performance measures, limitations, care and customer questions.
Although many people assume that lighter window tints offer poor UV protection compared to darker options, in reality, the level of UV protection is largely independent of a film's visible darkness. What people often misunderstand is that the materials and engineering of MOD5 TopShield window tint films are designed to absorb or reflect harmful UV radiation, irrespective of how much visible light they block. A film constructed to be very light in appearance can still provide robust protection for occupants and interior surfaces from solar damage, meaning comfort and protection are not sacrificed for visibility.
