Installer technical FAQ

Will a lighter tint fade faster or lose its heat-reducing properties more quickly?

Installer education covering film construction, solar-performance measures, limitations, care and customer questions.

Although many people assume a lighter window tint will fade faster or lose its heat-reducing properties more quickly than a darker one, in reality, the film's resilience and longevity are engineered aspects unrelated to its visible lightness. MOD5 TopShield window tint films are designed for durability, and their ability to maintain appearance and performance over time comes from how they are formulated, not from their initial shade. Both lighter and darker films can be constructed to withstand environmental factors and maintain their designed characteristics consistently over many years. The perception of fading or diminished performance is often linked to the film's underlying quality and construction, not simply its level of visible light transmission.
