Installer technical FAQ

Can MOD5 TopShield PPF hide existing swirl marks or scratches on my car's paint?

Installer education covering PPF construction, limitations, care, failure modes and customer expectation setting.

BELIEF: Many car owners believe that applying MOD5 TopShield paint protection films can hide or fill in existing swirl marks and minor scratches, making the paint look new again. INCORRECT: This belief is not accurate. MOD5 TopShield films are engineered to protect the paint surface underneath, not to conceal imperfections. REAL-WORLD BEHAVIOUR: If swirl marks or scratches are present before MOD5 TopShield is applied, they will still be visible, and in some lighting conditions, they might even appear more noticeable underneath the film. The film creates a smooth, protective layer that encapsulates the existing surface finish. DECISION CHANGE: Therefore, you should evaluate the condition of your paint before applying MOD5 TopShield to achieve the desired visual outcome and decide if paint correction is needed.
