Installer technical FAQ
Does MOD5 TopShield PPF require special paint preparation before application?
Installer education covering PPF construction, limitations, care, failure modes and customer expectation setting.
BELIEF: Some car owners assume that MOD5 TopShield paint protection films can be applied directly to a car's paint without any specific preparation, similar to a quick wax application. INCORRECT: This assumption is incorrect. While the film adherence is robust, applying MOD5 TopShield without proper preparation does not yield the intended result. REAL-WORLD BEHAVIOUR: The paint surface must be clean and free of any contaminants, oils, or residues to ensure a proper bond between the paint and the film. Any debris or imperfection on the surface underneath will be sealed in by the film and become visible. DECISION CHANGE: You should expect the paint to be thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated before MOD5 TopShield is applied to avoid visual imperfections and ensure proper film adhesion.
