Installer technical FAQ
Will my car's dot matrix areas appear perfectly smooth with window tint film?
Installer education covering film construction, solar-performance measures, limitations, care and customer questions.
Although many people assume that window tint film will adhere perfectly flat and uniformly across dot matrix patterns on car windows, in reality these raised ceramic frit patterns prevent the film from settling completely flush. This often results in a slightly different appearance, sometimes perceived as a lighter or textured area, where the film bridges over the raised dots rather than contacting the glass directly. MOD5 TopShield window tint films are designed to minimise this effect where possible, but the underlying texture of the dot matrix always influences the film's final adhesion and visual outcome in those specific areas. This uneven contact is due to the nature of the dot matrix design. Understanding this helps manage appearance expectations.
