Installer technical FAQ

Does window tint film cover the very edge of my car windows fully?

Installer education covering film construction, solar-performance measures, limitations, care and customer questions.

Although many people assume that window tint film extends completely to the absolute edge of a car's operating windows, in reality installers leave a small, precise gap around the perimeter of the glass. This intentional, barely visible margin is crucial to prevent the film from lifting, peeling, or being damaged when the windows are rolled up and down repeatedly. MOD5 TopShield window tint films are constructed to perform reliably over time, and maintaining this clearance helps protect the film from direct contact with the window seals and internal mechanisms during regular use. Without this small gap, these interactions would quickly compromise the film's adhesion and appearance. This approach ensures the longevity and visual integrity of the film through daily operation.
