Installer technical FAQ

Will film fix chips already on my windscreen?

Technical explanations for installers assessing KPU windscreen film, application limits, care and customer expectations.

Some vehicle owners hope that installing film will fill in or repair existing chips and cracks in the glass. This is not how the product works. MOD5 TopShield windscreen protection film is designed purely for prevention, not restoration. If applied over existing damage, the film will simply trap air pockets around the chip or crack, leading to poor visual clarity and potential adhesion issues. Furthermore, the film cannot structurally reinforce glass that has already been compromised. TopShield films must be applied to an intact surface to function correctly, meaning any existing damage must be professionally repaired or the glass replaced before installation to ensure the film bonds correctly and looks clear.
