Installer technical FAQ
Is my car's windscreen invincible against breakage if it has MOD5 TopShield windscreen protection film?
Technical explanations for installers assessing KPU windscreen film, application limits, care and customer expectations.
Many car owners might believe that with MOD5 TopShield windscreen protection film applied, their car's windscreen becomes effectively invincible against all forms of breakage. This perception is inaccurate. While TopShield films significantly enhance the windscreen's structural resilience and resistance to impacts from road debris, they do not confer invincibility. The film works by absorbing and distributing impact energy to reduce the chance of chipping or cracking under typical driving conditions. However, sufficiently energetic or focused impacts, or stress from other sources, can still lead to breakage of the glass. The film adds a layer of robust protection, but it does not alter the fundamental properties of the glass to make it unbreakable.
