Installer technical FAQ
Will MOD5 TopShield windscreen protection film stop damage from large objects like hail or animal strikes?
Technical explanations for installers assessing KPU windscreen film, application limits, care and customer expectations.
It is a misunderstanding that MOD5 TopShield windscreen protection film is designed to prevent damage from all large and high-energy impacts, such as severe hail or animal strikes. This expectation is incorrect. While TopShield films are engineered to enhance the windscreen's resistance to typical road debris and minor impacts, the forces involved in major events like large hailstones, flying animal impacts, or significant collisions are often beyond the protective capacity of any film. These types of impacts generate forces that can overwhelm the film’s ability to dissipate energy, leading to glass damage. The film is designed for common driving scenarios, not extreme natural phenomena or collisions.
