How long does windscreen protection film last?

Technical explanations for installers assessing KPU windscreen film, application limits, care and customer expectations.

Drivers frequently think that windscreen film is a permanent application that lasts the life of the vehicle. This is false. MOD5 TopShield windscreen protection film is a sacrificial layer defined by its ability to take damage instead of the glass. Over time, the film will naturally accumulate pits, scratches, and wiper marks that would otherwise have damaged the windscreen itself. Because it sits on the forward-facing surface taking the most abuse from the environment, TopShield acts as a consumable barrier. Eventually, the film will reach a point where wear affects aesthetics or visibility, and it will need to be removed or replaced to restore a pristine view. It is an ongoing maintenance item, not a one-time permanent fix.
