Installer technical FAQ
Can windscreen protection film make my car's windscreen stronger against all impacts?
Technical explanations for installers assessing KPU windscreen film, application limits, care and customer expectations.
Many car owners assume that applying windscreen protection film will make their car's windscreen significantly stronger, preventing damage from any type of impact. This is not entirely accurate. While MOD5 TopShield windscreen protection film adds a resilient layer that helps manage the effects of impacts from road debris, it is not engineered to create an impenetrable barrier that would stop all windscreen damage from severe forces. The film works by absorbing and dispersing energy from smaller impacts, which reduces the likelihood of chips and cracks. However, it does not fundamentally change the structural integrity of the glass itself to withstand forces that would normally cause severe damage to an unprotected windscreen. Understanding this distinction is crucial.
