Installer technical FAQ

Does windscreen protection film affect the performance of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)?

Technical explanations for installers assessing KPU windscreen film, application limits, care and customer expectations.

Many assume that adding any material to the windscreen, such as MOD5 TopShield windscreen protection film, might interfere with the sensors and cameras used by advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). This assumption is incorrect. These systems, which include features like lane keeping assist and automatic emergency braking, rely on precise calibration and clear visibility through the glass. TopShield films are specifically engineered to be optically neutral and not disrupt the pathways of light that ADAS sensors use. The design ensures that the film does not introduce optical distortions or block signals, allowing ADAS features to function as intended by the vehicle manufacturer.
